Hatha Yoga
This class follows a slower pace aimed at those who are looking to embrace a more meditative practice of yoga, enabling them to connect with their body and mind. This style & slower pace also helps to awaken and develop the body's potential, poses are held for longer to enable the correct alignment, muscle strength and increased flexibility. Some class time is devoted to pranayama; gentle breathing exercises, which help to calm the mind setting you up for the rest of the day and also meditation in the form of Savasana at the end of the practise.
Vinyasa Flow
This style of yoga is a modern, western twist of Astanga, practised to music. A faster pace than Hatha, it incorporates a flowing sequence, linking the breath to movement. A dynamic internal dance in the form of a series of postures, which help to keep the body strong, flexible and relaxed. Their practise strengthens the nervous system and refines our process of inner perception.
Fertility Yoga
This type of class integrates stretching and breathing which leads to a more restorative & therapeutic form of yoga, tapping into your potential for fertility wellness & all aspects of women’s health. I focus specifically on the hips, reproductive and hormonal system where the practice is designed to improve physical wellbeing and reduce the effects of stress. By preparing the body, mind and spirit, strength and confidence will follow, helping one to reach new inner levels of calm and focus.
Prenatal Yoga
A specific class tailored to you and your baby. Attention is on opening the hips and pelvic muscles. Asanas are focused on strengthening the back in order to aid carrying the baby for 9 months and increasing flexibility. An element of relaxation and meditation in the form of breathing exercises encourages the mother to be, to de-stress and help prepare for the birth.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative classes are usually very relaxing and are a good complement to a more active practise. Props are used to support the body so that you can hold poses for longer allowing you to open your body through passive stretching. The poses relieve the effects of chronic stress, by moving the spine in all directions to keep it healthy and targeting the lungs and heart creating a specific physiological response which is beneficial to your health and can reduce the effects of stress-related diseases.
Yin Yoga
Yin is a practise of patience, the poses are held for longer periods of time than prevalent forms of Asana & during this time in the poses, there is an opportunity to enter into an experience of ourselves. The practise is enriched by Traditional Chinese Medicine and embodied Mindfulness, while postures become less about alignment from the outside and more focused on a sense of arriving on the inside.
